An authority on mindfulness, meditation, movement, breath work, and energy training, Mike J. Ng has dedicated his life to the promotion of health, harmony, and vitality through the practice of Chinese martial arts and medicine. Dr. Ng earned his clinical Doctor of Acupuncture and Master of Science in Chinese Medicine degrees from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, is a Corrective Exercise Specialist certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine, and has over 25 years of experience in movement and martial arts. He holds nine International All-Around Grand Championship titles, and in 2014, was inducted into the USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame.

Madin Lopez is the Executive Director of ProjectQ, using hair as a form of social justice by giving free haircuts to trans and queer youth of color experiencing housing insecurity. ProjectQ provides queer youth with self affirming workshops in exchange for free gender affirming haircuts. In conversation with KCRW Good Food’s Evan Kleiman, bread bakers Bub and Grandma’s will lead a deliciously soothing 30-minute baguette shaping demonstration. Be a fly on the wall or shape your own baguette by using this recipe recommended by Evan!

Bub and Grandma’s is a predominantly wholesale bread bakery supplying restaurants and markets across the expanse of Los Angeles. They make a great variety of deeply considered, long fermented breads filled with freshly milled whole grains and complementary ingredients. Featured at both the Culver City and Hollywood Farmers Markets, they plan to open their first retail sandwich shop and pastry kitchen in Glassell Park in the fall of 2021.

Self Help Graphic & Art Barrio Mobile Artists will lead a live one-hour virtual artmaking workshop. During the course of the class, the teaching artist will run through the artmaking process and answer any questions the attendees might have. Rosamaría Segura has been practicing meditation since 1998. She teaches in non-profit organizations, public schools, and groups dedicated to social and environmental justice. Rosamaría is both a teacher and the Director of Insight in Action, an InsightLA program dedicated to offering free mindfulness training to marginalized communities that would otherwise not be able to afford or have access to these teachings.

InsightLA is a non-profit online meditation community providing high-quality mindfulness and compassion practices. For close to 20 years, InsightLA has offered classes, retreats, and special events that cater to both beginning meditators and those looking to deepen and sustain their practice. InsightLA is the only organization of it’s kind offering secular, evidenced-based mindfulness training and traditional Buddhist teachings within the Vipassana or Insight tradition.
