March 7, 2020
Craft Contemporary, 5814 Wilshire Blvd.
Los Angeles, 90036 United States

Craft Contemporary has opened its second Clay Biennial. "The Body, The Object, The Other" uses the human body as a springboard for material and conceptual experimentation with ceramics. Emerging and established artists (including Brie Ruais, whose Topology of a Garden, Southwest, is shown above) demonstrate how, at a variety of scales and modes of expression from sculptural objects to site-specific installations and performative works. Craft Contemporary, 5814 Wilshire Blvd.
Los Angeles, 90036 United States

The Craft Contemporary now hosts its third clay biennial—an exhibition which highlights California ceramic artists and celebrates the diversity of the medium. This iteration, titled Wayfinding, centers on our relationship to the earth, as well as a celebration of familial and cultural traditions. Lourdes Jiménez-Pulido pulls influences from his Navajo and Pueblo of Isleta heritage to create vessels patterned with swirling motifs; Charles Snowden’s surrealist figures take inspiration from ancient Mexican rituals; and Christina Margarita Erives’ delightful spreads of pan…
