Join us for a screening of No Más Bebés, the story of 10 Mexican immigrant mothers who sued Los Angeles County, the State of California, and the U.S. government for being sterilized in their 1970s without their consent after having emergency Cesarean sections at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center. This year marks the 40th anniversary of their landmark civil rights lawsuit-Madrigal v. Quilligan- asserting that a woman's right to bear a child is guaranteed under the Supreme Court's Roe v. Join us for a special Q&A session with film producer Virginia Espino about No Más Bebés, the documentary she co-produced with director/producer Renee Tajima-Pena on the landmark lawsuit affirming a woman's right to bear a child. Espino is a senior writer, interviewer, project coordinator, and historian of Latina/o history for the UCLA Center for Oral History Research. Woolsey Family Portrait Shoot
The faculty and students of the Santa Monica College Photography Department are offering free group portraits for families who are victims of the Woolsey Fire. This is an opportunity to start new photography memories for those who lost so many treasured photographs in the fire. Each family will have a private 20-minute session in the photo studios at Santa Monica College.
