US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin on Tax Cuts and Jobs Act

US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin will address the Los Angeles World Affairs Council at a luncheon on February 26th. He will discuss the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, recently passed by the House and the Senate and signed into law by President Trump, and its impact on tax payers and economic growth rates. He will also talk about the current state of the US economy, the strength of the financial system and his outlook for the coming year. Secretary Mnuchin will also discuss the global economy, the administration’s attempts to reduce the US trade imbalance with China and other nations in Asia, and the sanctions campaign against North Korea. Join Secretary Mnuchin and LAWAC President Terry McCarthy in a moderated conversation about America’s economy and where it is headed.

Steven Mnuchin was sworn in as the 77th Secretary of the Treasury on February 13, 2017. Prior to his confirmation, Secretary Mnuchin was finance chairman for Donald J. Trump for President. He also served as a senior economic advisor to the president in crafting his economic positions and economic speeches. Prior to his confirmation he also served as founder, chairman, and chief executive officer of Dune Capital Management. He also founded OneWest Bank Group LLC and served as its chairman and chief executive officer until its sale to CIT Group Inc., which was the first bank merger over $50 billion post financial crisis. Earlier in his career, Secretary Mnuchin worked at The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. where he was a partner and served as chief information officer. He has extensive experience in global financial markets and oversaw trading in US government securities, mortgages, money markets, and municipal bonds.
