ABOUT UNFICTIONAL
UnFictional is a program of visceral and spellbinding true stories, sometimes heartbreaking, often hilarious. Stories of crime and regret, found objects and lost minds, the secret and the unexplainable. An UnFictional story is like taking a trip with someone you’ve never met, but finding you have a lot in common with them. It’s a sound movie that plays out in your mind and will stick in your head like a memory.
NOTE: This event is strictly 21+ – a valid photo ID will be required at the door.

FEATURING

UnFictional host Bob Carlson
Bob Carlson is the producer, host and sound mixer of UnFictional, an award-winning radio program and podcast, featuring unusual long form storytelling and personal documentaries. Bob has spent most of his adult life alone in padded soundproof rooms as a producer and technician at the famously eclectic KCRW in Santa Monica: mixing live music, making radio dramas and documentaries, DJ-ing, and washing windows. His work has also been heard on the BBC, NPR, and Australian Broadcasting Corporation. As a fan of radio storytelling, Bob is almost always seen with headphones listening to podcasts. He also enjoys learning to compose music for the stories on UnFictional. He lives in Los Angeles with with his wife, two children and an extremely territorial little dog.

UnFictional Music Supervisor Dan Wilcox
It was evident at an early age that Dan Wilcox had a passion for music – he learned how to use his parents’ turntable before he could tie his shoes. Growing up in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, interesting music was in short supply and Dan would frequent the college record store, comb garage sales, scan fanzines and make out-of-town trips just to satisfy his craving for intriguing and exotic tunes, both new and old. This experience serves him well to this day as both a KCRW DJ and UnFictional’s Music Supervisor.
