THE RECORD THEATER: THE WHITE ALBUM IN MONO

Buy Tickets

Back for the ninth time (“Number 9”) by popular demand, the GRAMMY Museum invites you to the Clive Davis Theater to experience the mind-altering mono mix. Imagine a theater. As Chuck Berry would say, “the place is packed.” The lights go out. An album cover is on the screen, and suddenly, a vinyl record begins to play. From the first song on side one, to the last song on side four —no phones, no computers, no interruptions. Welcome to The Record Theater. In 1968, “Hey Jude” goes number one and The Fab Four deliver the shockingly diverse double album, with thirty tracks, called The Beatles —commonly known as The White Album. This would be the last Beatles album to be mixed in mono AND stereo. Visit the Record Theater to hear a vinyl edition of the mono mixes.

From blistering electric blues to haunting acoustic ballads, this is the sound of the greatest rock and roll band of all time splitting apart. Bring a pillow, sit back and experience the power of music with your brothers and sisters.

Afterwards, there will be a brief Q&A with Brian Kehew, co-author of Recording the Beatles, and special guests, who will join peermusic singer-songwriter and record producer Marvin Etzioni onstage for a discussion.

“The higher you fly, the deeper you go… so come on!”
