Multi-platinum global reggae/pop quartet Magic! will release their sophomore album Primary Colors on July 1 following the release of the single “Lay You Down Easy,” which features Sean Paul and reached No. 1 on Billboard‘s Reggae Digital Songs chart, garnering 2 million Spotify streams and 1 million views on Vevo in just over two weeks. The album is the follow-up to the band’s 2014 Top 10 debut Don’t Kill The Magic, which featured the hit single “Rude.” For their second album, a collection of original songs written entirely by the band, they called on longtime collaborator and GRAMMY Award-winning producer Adam Messinger. Comprising Mark Pellizzer (guitar), Alex Tanas (drums), Ben Spivak (bass) and GRAMMY-winning songwriter/producer Nasri Atweh (Justin Bieber’s “My World 2.0,” Chris Brown’s “Graffiti”), the band made their mark with the hit single “Rude,” holding the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for six weeks while simultaneously dominating the charts globally, hitting No. 1 in 41 countries. The track has been streamed over 500 million times on Spotify and the upbeat, quirky video for the single has seen nearly 1 billion Vevo views. The past year saw the band earn two Juno awards for Breakthrough Group and Single of the Year for “Rude” and score multiple Billboard Award nominations on the strength of debut studio album Don’t Kill The Magic. The GRAMMY Museum is pleased to welcome Magic! to the Clive Davis Theater for an intimate discussion on their forthcoming new album and rising career, moderated by Scott Goldman, Vice President of the GRAMMY Foundation and MusiCares.
