About the Program:

Telling modern-day stories of Chicanx life in Southern California, East LA favorites Las Cafeteras take the stage at the Skirball to kick off the final Skirball Stages performance of the year. Get down to their uplifting blend of Afro-Mexican beats, hip-hop, and rancheras. Greeting us from a set filmed exclusively for the series in Brazil is Latin Grammy–nominated singer Xênia França, inviting audiences to soak up the traditional rhythms of Bahia, mixed with a pulsing blend of electronica, jazz, and R&B. A prominent member of her local art scene, França captivates with smooth vocals and creative verve.

Also go behind the scenes with the artists for a look at their musical processes, aspirations, and hopes for the future.

Can’t make the streaming event? No worries! Skirball Stages: Las Cafeteras and Xênia França will be available to view on the Skirball’s YouTube channel following the premiere date.

About the Series:

Skirball Stages is a special series of streaming concert experiences. Featuring both striking musical performances and heartfelt behind-the-scenes interviews, each event is a testament to music’s ability to connect across cultures, honor generations past, and inspire perseverance through challenging times. Don’t miss these uniquely curated experiences, which pair national and international acts originally booked for the Sunset Concerts 2020 season with talent from the local music scene.
