Robert Reich Seeking the Common Good in America

Buy Tickets

Robert Reich, former Secretary of Labor under President Clinton, will address the Los Angeles World Affairs Council at a luncheon on Tuesday, March 13, about the current state of the US economy and where he thinks America is going. Reich will talk about the recently-passed tax cuts and why he believes they will lead to deep cuts to Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security. A lifelong critic of economic inequality in the US, Reich will discuss his mission to get Americans more actively involved in politics, and why he thinks it is important to restore a sense of the moral obligations of citizenship (the topic of his forthcoming book The Common Good).

Robert B. Reich is Chancellor’s Professor of Public Policy at the University of California at Berkeley, where he has taught his popular course on “Wealth and Poverty” since 2006. He served as Secretary of Labor in the Clinton administration, for which Time Magazine named him one of the ten most effective cabinet secretaries of the twentieth century. He has written fourteen books, including the best sellers Aftershock, The Work of Nations and Beyond Outrage, and, his most recent, Saving Capitalism. He is also a founding editor of the American Prospect magazine, chairman of Common Cause, a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and co-creator of the award-winning documentary, “Inequality For All.” His latest documentary, “Saving Capitalism,” is streaming now on Netflix.
