Ricardo Soltero’s La Catrina Sculptures

Los Angeles-based artist Ricardo Soltero has created 14 feet high papier-mâché sculptures of La Catrina – Mexico’s ‘Grand Dame of Death‘. These larger than (after) life art figures will take to the streets of Santa Monica for Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), starting Saturday. Find them on Third Street Promenade and Santa Monica Pier. Feel free to join the spirits with your own Día de los Muertos traditional makeup and costuming.

Many Día de los Muertos ceremonies have gone online this year, including Olvera Street and  Forest Lawn. But you can celebrate in-person at the Plaza de la Raza in DTLA and at the Museum of Latin American Art in Long Beach.
