Newport Jazz Revival Radio

In lieu of the Newport Jazz Fest, Newport Jazz Revival teamed up with WGBO Radio to present the Newport Jazz Revival Radio. Broadcasting eight hours of music from the Newport Jazz Festival archives that will be presented as full sets and complete with stage banter.

Some of the featured artists include Dizzy Gillespie in 1959, when he began his set with “Newport Blues,” Makaya McCraven six decades later, a searching John Coltrane Quartet in ’61, a blazing Freddie Hubbard Quintet in ’64, a crisp Wes Montgomery Quartet in ’67, the Godfather of Soul James Brown in ’69, and many more.
