Mexican Institute of Sound released his debut album Méjico Máxico in 2006. Since then, M.I.S. has released 5 albums: Piñata (2008), Soy Sauce (2010), Poitico (2012), Disco Popular (2017), and Distrito Federal (2021).

His latest album is called Distrito Federal (2021) and features collaborations with: Dan The Automator (Gorillaz), Graham Coxon (Blur), Duckwrth, BIA, Cuco, and Banda Misteriosa. NPR included it on the Best Albums of the Year list.

Latin Grammy nominated Mexican innovator Ceci Bastida mixes the latest in Latinx sounds with politically charged hip hop, electronica, and global beats. The Fader once dubbed her sound “bodacious, clicky, and gongy”. She is a member of the all-star band Mexrrissey, a Mexican homage to the songs of Morrissey and The Smiths. Bastida joined the iconic Mexican ska-punk band Tijuana NO when she was 15 and became one of the first women to rise in the ranks of contemporary Latin rock. Her four solo albums since have taken her in another direction: music that is beat-driven, danceable, and infectious no matter what language you speak. Her latest, Everything Taken Away, is a suite of songs inspired by stories of global migration and family separation, co-produced by Bastida and Alex Epton (FKA Twigs, Arca, Spank Rock).

KCRW Presents: Mexican Institute of Sound at the Paramount on Thursday, April 4, with support from Ceci Bastida and Spaghetti Cumbia.
