COAST Open Streets Event Returns to Santa Monica on October 7
On Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the City of Santa Monica will host the third year of COAST,
Santa Monica’s Open Streets Event, celebrating the city’s commitment to art, sustainability, and mobility with
two miles of activated streets.
The free event will feature live music, dance, hands-on activities and large-scale art installations, all exploring
new mobility opportunities, sustainability, and art. Attendees are invited to enjoy the reimagined public space
by walking, biking, or skating throughout COAST’s route while taking in the picturesque Pacific Ocean views
and various experiences offered along the way. Participatory activities and performances will activate every
block along the route, including iconic landmarks such as Camera Obscura, City Hall and the Pier. COAST
festivities will then culminate in an “After Party” at the final Twilight on the Pier music festival.
Participants are encouraged to bike, walk, or take Big Blue Bus or the Expo Line. Free bike valets will be available
along the route.
