Kennebec + Brendan Eder Ensemble

Buy Tickets

2220 presents a Saturday evening double bill of orchestral pop and genre-crossing chamber music with visiting artist Kennebec, alongside LA’s Brendan Eder Ensemble. Join us in lifting the veil of Spring with warm and vernal woodwinds, strings, voice and percussion.

Kennebec is the musical outlet of Eric Phillips, a composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist releasing music on Night Time Stories, sister artist label of legendary compilation series Late Night Tales (Khruangbin, Floating Points, Belle & Sebastian). He draws from an eclectic array of influences including folk, ambient electronic, indie-rock, hip-hop and soundtracks to create his own unique blend of cinematic instrumental music.

Kennebec’s latest album featured appearances from Sudan Archives, Samuel T. Herring (of Future Islands), Hemlock Ernst (Sam’s rap alter ego), British-Bahraini trumpeter Yazz Ahmed and Kalaido. Kennebec’s flexible and eclectic live show has led to the group opening for artists as diverse as Kevin Morby, Arooj Aftab and Joep Beving.

Beyond Kennebec, Eric Phillips has composed soundtracks for and worked on numerous films, including Shane Anderson’s salmon conservation documentaries, The Obama’s docuseries ‘Working’ and Alexander Payne’s ‘The Holdovers’

Brendan Eder is a Los Angeles composer and drummer best-known for his eponymous genre-bending ensemble of woodwinds, drum set, and bass. His most recent album, THERAPY, is a collection of meditative compositions recorded mostly at a church in Southern California. The self-released album went on to chart at #6 in Billboard’s Crossover Classical and was featured in The Guardian’s “The Best Albums of 2023 So Far.”

“…a cocoon of reassuringly pleasant sound through which all manner of emotions might be processed and released.” – Marian Timony (bandcamp)
