KCRW’s World Festival at the Hollywood Bowl featuring Femi Kuti & Janelle Monáe

The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association and KCRW present an on-air series featuring previously recorded live concerts from KCRW’s World Festival at the Hollywood Bowl.  

Airing Sunday, August 30 at 6:30 p.m. PT on KCRW and KCRW.com —  Janelle Monáe’s future-freak funk and tightrope-walking R&B have made her an icon whose live performances burst with energy. Femi Kuti picked up the legacy of his father Fela and brought Afrobeat into the 21st century with his band The Positive Force. KCRW DJ Anthony Valadez will host. Be sure to join us early at 6:00 p.m. for a 30-minute DJ set inspired by the concert.

Created in partnership with the LA Phil, KCRW’s World Festival has been bringing an eclectic array of artists from around the world to the Hollywood Bowl stage for 20 years. Following the cancellation of the 2020 Bowl season due to COVID-19, the LA Phil and KCRW collaborate to present highlights of past World Festivals through an exclusive series of archival concerts to be broadcast on Sundays, 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., from August 23 to October 11. Join us early at 6:00 p.m. for a 30-minute DJ set inspired by each concert.
