Catch Abraham Alexander on the courtyard on July 20th with KCRW DJs Dan Wilcox and Chris Douridas serving up vibes. A happy hour with cash bar starts at 6:30 PM, so come early and visit the Hammer’s galleries, which will be open until 9:00 PM featuring Together in Time: Selections from the Hammer Contemporary Collection.

From open mics in Fort Worth, TX to recent stints on the road opening for Leon Bridges, Ani DiFranco and Mavis Staples, Abraham Alexander set the stage for his 2023 debut album SEA/SONS, out on Dualtone Records in early 2023. The album is a lush, seductive affair that showcases the 31-year-old singer-songwriter’s beguiling voice—one which offers both honey and grit—and supple acoustic guitar work. The 11 tracks on SEA/SONS display a cool assuredness, along with themes of loss, redemption, longing, anguish and joy. There is a refreshing genre fluidity at play as elements of folk, pop, rock, R&B, gospel and even electronic music meld and tangle.

Please RSVP for updates. Note: RSVP does not guarantee entry

Let us know you’re coming and we’ll send you all the details before the event!

ABOUT THE HAMMER
The Hammer Museum is part of the School of the Arts and Architecture at UCLA, and offers exhibitions and collections that span classic to contemporary art. It holds more than 50,000 works in its collection, including one of the finest collections of works on paper in the nation, the Grunwald Center for the Graphic Arts. Through a wide-ranging, international exhibition program and the biennial, Made in L.A., the Hammer highlights contemporary art since the 1960s, especially the work of emerging and under-recognized artists. The exhibitions, permanent collections, and nearly 300 public programs annually—including film screenings, lectures, symposia, readings, music performances, and workshops for families—are all free to the public.

Together in Time: Selections from the Hammer Contemporary Collection
Presented in conjunction with the unveiling of the Hammer’s building expansion, this exhibition is the largest presentation of the Hammer Contemporary Collection in the museum’s history. Occupying nearly all gallery spaces, Together in Time highlights works in a wide range of media by Los Angeles-based and international artists, including Njidecka Akunyili Crosby, Mark Bradford, Laura Owens, Kerry Tribe, and many more.
