Summer Nights Postponed in July + August

It is with the utmost consideration for our community that KCRW has decided to postpone KCRW’s Summer Nights events on July 30 (CAAM) and August 14 and 21 (One Colorado). Our wish for 2021 is to throw you the biggest, baddest Summer Nights parties all over the city and dance with you under the summer moon. But with the Delta variant on the rise in LA County, we are exercising caution. First and foremost, KCRW is a community service to Los Angeles — we have and always will prioritize public safety at our events. Our mission is for KCRW events to be fun, friendly, and safe for everyone. This is just a pause, we’ll see you soon! We love you < 3

*KCRW Summer Nights events in September at Descanso Gardens and Grand Performances are continuing as scheduled on their original dates.

About CAAM
The California African American Museum (CAAM) in Exposition Park explores the art, history, and culture of African Americans, with an emphasis on California and the West. In addition to presenting a dynamic slate of exhibitions and public programs, CAAM houses a permanent collection of more than four thousand works of art, artifacts, and historical documents, and a publicly accessible research library. Admission is free.

Sanford Biggers: Codeswitch
For more than two decades, Los Angeles native Sanford Biggers has been developing a singular body of work that is deeply informed by African American history and traditions. Sanford Biggers: Codeswitch, the first survey of quilt-based works by the New York-based interdisciplinary artist, features nearly fifty pieces that seamlessly weave together references to contemporary art, urban culture, sacred geometry, and more. The exhibition’s title, Codeswitch, refers to both the artist’s quilt series, known as the Codex series, as well as to the idea of code-switching: shifting from one linguistic code to another depending on social context.
