The souldies (irresistible nickname for “soul oldies”) genre is keeping us alive lately. That’s why we’re so excited to have Thee Sinseers, the premier band in Southern California’s souldies scene, join us at the Hammer Courtyard on July 21st! Come celebrate the sounds of this East LA R&B soul group with the accompanying sets from KCRW DJs José Galván and Jason Kramer. A happy hour with cash bar starts at 6:30pm, so come early and visit the Hammer’s galleries, which will be open until 9:00pm exhibiting Andrea Bowers, the first museum retrospective surveying more than two decades of the Los Angeles–based artist’s work.

ABOUT THE HAMMER

The Hammer Museum is part of the School of the Arts and Architecture at UCLA, and offers exhibitions and collections that span classic to contemporary art. The exhibitions, permanent collections, and nearly 300 public programs annually—including film screenings, lectures, symposia, readings, music performances, and workshops for families—are all free to the public.

EXHIBITION HIGHLIGHT

On view at the Hammer will be Andrea Bowers, the first museum retrospective surveying more than two decades of the Los Angeles–based artist’s work. Andrea Bowers has used her artistic practice as a political exercise, a narrative platform that she lends to movements of social and political activism.
