ABOUT CAAM

The California African American Museum (CAAM) in Exposition Park explores the art, history, and culture of African Americans, with an emphasis on California and the West. In addition to presenting a dynamic slate of exhibitions and public programs, CAAM houses a permanent collection of more than five thousand works of art, artifacts, and historical documents, and a research library. Admission is free.

EXHIBITION HIGHLIGHT

See “Deborah Roberts: I’m,” an exhibition in two parts at CAAM and Art + Practice. The walls of CAAM’s expansive lobby are covered in a large-scale mural by Roberts entitled Little man, little man (2020). It features collaged images of a young Black boy in animated expressions of joy, a fitting image for KCRW’s Summer Nights at CAAM!

PARKING

The Metro Expo line stop Expo Park/USC is a five-minute walk through the Rose Garden to the Museum! Evening parking in Exposition Park is $18: please enter at 39th and Figueroa Streets.
