INGLEWOOD OPEN STUDIOS 2018
November 11, 2018 • 12:00 pm PST
Inglewood is home to a burgeoning artist community and the site of significant development with the recently announced YOLA (Youth Orchestra Los Angeles of the LA Philharmonic) building renovation by Frank Gehry, the upcoming NFL stadium, Clippers Arena, two Metro stations currently under construction, and new art galleries and businesses moving into the city. The 12th annual Inglewood Open Studios is keeping pace with this incredible growth with a brand new visual identity, unique family friendly events and important new partnerships.
Inglewood Open Studios enriches the community through exposure to local artists and art professionals. On both Saturday, November 10 and Sunday, November 11, 2018, artists and galleries throughout Inglewood will open their doors to the public. Visitors will be invited to personally tour private artist working spaces and enjoy art created in all media–drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed- media, photography, print making, installation, video and performance. Some spaces will also host events such as workshops and talks, which will be listed on printed flyers with tour maps, available at all tour locations. The weekend will kickoff with an artists reception at Residency Gallery in Downtown Inglewood on Friday, November 9, 2018. Free shuttle transportation will be provided on Saturday and Sunday by Inglewood Open Studios sponsor, The City of Inglewood. Download map at inglewoodopenstudios.com for information on routes.
New for 2018: La Tijera Village will sponsor a Family Friendly Interactive Art Event at the District 2 Community Center, at 1201 S. La Tijera Bl., Inglewood, CA. 90302. Planned activities include a ceramics workshop, painting, live music and a costumes tent for creative free playtime and opportunities for photos. The Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles will be on site to greet visitors and assist with workshops.
Also new in 2018: Inglewood artist Beth Dubber has been selected to create a photographic documentation project of Inglewood Open Studios. Images will be licensed for use to promote future IOS events.
