In Conversation: Robert Jones Jr.
June 15, 2021 • 5:00 pm PDT
Celebrate Pride Month with author Robert Jones Jr. as he discusses his debut novel, The Prophets, with writer Maurice Carlos Ruffin, a finalist for the PEN/Faulkner Award and Dayton Literary Peace Prize. The Prophets tells of the forbidden union between two enslaved young men on a Mississippi plantation, the refuge they find in each other, and a betrayal that threatens their existence. As tensions build and the weight of centuries—of ancestors and future generations—culminates in a climactic reckoning, The Prophets reveals the pain and suffering of inheritance, but also the heroic power of love.
