Felix returns to the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel

Buy Tickets

Held in poolside cabanas at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, Felix is a more laid back approach to an art fair. Each gallery sets up shop in a hotel room, with art installed in the bathrooms, on lounge chairs, and in TV consoles. Felix’s summer iteration only included LA-based galleries (due to COVD-19 restrictions), but this week’s edition (the fourth in the fair’s run) welcomes back 60 international and local galleries arranged around the pool and on the second level of the hotel.

Some New York highlights include Charles Moffet Gallery (New York), which will be showing a pairing of LA-based artists Lily Stockman and Bari Ziperstien; Mrs. Gallery (New York), which includes a dynamic group of artists and collaged sublimation prints by Sarah Palmer; and Volume, which will exhibit design objects by Ross Hansen, Tanya Aguiñiga, and Sam Stewart.

Local gallery Nonaka-Hill, which primarily exhibits Japan-based artists, will be showing three artists who ruminate on themes of Stafford dogs figurines and flowers in what should be a dynamic installation. I’m also looking forward to seeing photographs by Indonesia-based artist Mella Jaarsma at BAIK + KHNEYSSER, which picture figures wearing papery “horizontal dresses” in surrealist compositions. Tickets are available here and run $40 to $75.
