Once upon a time, all [expletive] broke loose

Like the idea of children’s theatre gone wrong? This is a half-scripted, half-improvised show featuring some of LA’s best improv comedians.

Start with the stories of Mother Goose and — with curveballs from KCRW’s Steve Chiotakis and the audience — mangle them into hilarious abominations that would make grandma faint. We’ll schmooze, we’ll laugh, we’ll sooth your childhood issues. But we’ll also scar your children, so put them to bed first. Rated PG-16. Laughter is the best medicine, right?

This event is free to KCRW members. Non-member tickets available with any donation amount ($1 minimum).

A donation of $30 or more will enroll you in KCRW’s Fringe Benefits membership level (normally available at the $60 level and above)

PS members….stay tuned for some exciting specialty cocktails made just for you before every event!

Please reach out to [email protected] with any questions.

About Fairytales Against Humanity

Once upon a time (in high school), JP Karliak wrote Mad Lib-style fill-in fairytale stories to amuse himself and some friends during algebra class.  Cut to 2015, JP found those old twisted tales and wondered, “Could this work on stage?”  Fairytales for Days of Reckoning was born, and went on to appear at Second City Hollywood, the Hollywood Fringe Festival (Encore award winner), venues throughout Los Angeles and San Diego, and even a live performance on nerdy content creator Geek & Sundry’s Twitch channel.  While we miss the live stage, we are so grateful to KCRW for bringing us back in this brand new digital version!

What, you want to tip us for such an amazing show?  You’re too kind!  The cast of Fairytales for Days of Reckoning asks that, in lieu of tips, you consider a contribution of any amount to the Black Trans Advocacy Coalition.  This organization seeks to improve the Black Trans human experience by overcoming violence and injustice in the world through the power, value and love of all people.  They advocate for housing, healthcare and employment for Black Trans folx nationwide.  If you’ve enjoyed our show (or even if you missed it!) please consider “tipping” the Fairytales cast by contributing at tinyurl.com/kcrwfairytaletips.
