On June 25th creative jazz legends David Murray and percussionist Sir Kahil El’Zabar bring their longtime collaboration to the Zeb stage!

Spiritual and avant jazz percussionist Kahil El’Zabar has a career that stretches back to his early activity in the fecund scene around the Association for the Advancement of Creative Music (AACM) in Chicago, and with the Ethnic Heritage Ensemble up to the present day.

Known for a robust, emotive tenor saxophone sound while playing a range of styles – free jazz, gospel, blues, and Afro-Caribbean influences – saxophonist David Murray has played with luminaries such as Don Cherry and Andrew Cyrille, and continues to push forward with his own ensembles, namely the David Murray Quartet.

Together the pair blaze! Their deep synergy, forged over decades of collaboration, resonates with audiences across generations, blending deep-rooted jazz traditions with forward-thinking innovation.
