dublab Presents Ki Oni | KCRW’s 24 Hours of Serenity
April 18, 2021 • 10:00 pm(All times are in PDT)
dublab presents a one-hour performance from Ki Oni with visuals by No Translation. Ki Oni is the pseudonym of ambient artist Chuck Soo-Hoo named after a creature in a Japanese monster movie – a tree with a human face that spews flower petals from its mouth. Soo-Hoo similarly inhabits a surreal space between the artificial and natural worlds, a liminal zone where the fabricated blends with the fluid and music is a river, flowing of its own accord. Soo-Hoo splits his time between working at dublab, L.A.’s freeform radio station, and co-hosting Contact Wave, the station’s resident ambient and experimental music program.
dublab is a non-profit radio station based in Los Angeles. Since 1999, dublab has been broadcasting wide-spectrum music from around the world. The station’s programming has expanded to include the production of original art exhibits, films, events record releases and educational programs related to health, youth, development, education and creative processes.
