Coro Southern California’s Technology x Democracy Conference
February 2, 2018 @ 8:00 am
21st century technology has propelled one of the biggest societal shifts in history, yet has brought with it a paradox. While technology has reshaped our society and the ways we communicate with each other, our democracy today looks more fragile than it has in decades. Polarization is rising, trust in government is falling, and people across the political spectrum agree that our public conversation can and must be more productive.
Coro’s one-day conference will bring together over 200 leading technology innovators, policymakers, scholars, and campaign practitioners to explore the intersection of technology and democracy, and discuss how we need to adapt in order to strengthen democracy in the digital age. Panelists and presenters will examine the ways in which technology has impacted the way we engage civically, the way we access news and information, and how these shifts have both strengthened and threatened our democratic process.
