Building a Movement for Wellbeing

Free

On Sunday, May 6th, join the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health and fellow local, state, and national leaders to come together to issue a call to action to build a movement to knock down current barriers to access and foster well-being for everyone! This convening kicks off a series of Mental Health Month events specifically aimed at supporting youth aged 14-24 to move from talking about mental health to taking action.

We will discuss barriers that prevent individuals from accessing care and steps we need to collectively take to create an environment necessary for wellbeing. Join Patrick J. Kennedy, President of The Kennedy Forum; Congresswoman Grace Napolitano; Mayor Darrell Steinberg and Dr. Jonathan E. Sherin as they come together to address topics including criminal justice reform, access to care, and youth civic engagement and issue a call for action!

Topics to be Discussed Include:

The Fundamental Right to Access

Solving the Access Challenge
– Parity Discussion: The Right to Services
– Criminal Justice Reform: Severing the School to Prison Pipeline
– Knocking Down Barriers

Building Today’s Movement
– Lessons from The Disability Rights Movement
