AS I AM: THE LIFE AND TIME$ OF DJ AM

Following a triumphant reception on the festival circuit from Tribeca to Toronto, the GRAMMY Museum will host an exclusive screening of AS I AM: The Life And Time$ Of DJ AM, director/producer Kevin Kerslake’s critically acclaimed documentary about the remarkable life and untimely passing of legendary DJ and mash-up pioneer DJ AM aka Adam Goldstein. Authorized by the estate of DJ AM, Kerslake’s film, which was rated 4.5/5 stars by Billboard, is a comprehensive and compassionate look at one of the world’s first truly superstar DJs who experienced meteoric success through both raw talent and sheer determination, overcoming what for others might have been staggering adversity before tragically succumbing to his own personal demons. Following its highly anticipated acclaimed world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2015, the film also garnered an honorable mention VOICE award from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration. Kerslake, whose previous films include bios on The Ramones and Nirvana, along with the seminal EDM documentary The Electric Daisy Carnival Experience, covers Adam Goldstein’s childhood and family life inAS I AM — the development of his DJ skills and career; his rise to superstardom; a long-running struggle with drug addiction; his ensuring sobriety and titanic efforts to help others in recovery. The film features interviews with Mark Ronson, Diplo, Jon Favreau, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Mix Master Mike, Stevie Aoki, Paul Oakenfold, and many others. Following the screening, film director/producer Kevin Kerslake, producers Robert Bruce, Dan Franklin and Joel Marcus, and co-producer Kevin Scott will participate in a discussion moderated by Scott Goldman, Vice President of the GRAMMY Foundation and MusiCares.
