As Headliner for 2018 Hammer N’ Ales Benefit Concert
March 1, 2018 –Habitat for Humanity of Southern Santa Barbara County (HFHSSBC) is excited to announce the Grammy Award-winning band Ozomatli will headline Hammer N’ Ales, Habitat’s benefit concert on May 19, 2018 from 1-7 pm. Ozomatli’s performance will start at 5:30 pm. The concert will take place at 6860 Cortona Drive in Goleta.
Since its inception in 1995, innovation and creativity have defined Ozomatli. Hailing from Los Angeles, the group found a way to represent the city’s eclectic culture through music that appeals to the local community and the world beyond. Ozomatli’s success is exemplified in an impressive variety of genres from classic to modern Latino, urban, hip-hop and other world styles. In 2002, their album Embrace the Chaos won a Grammy for the Best Latin Rock/Alternative Album.
Local favorites The Upbeat, Soul Majestic and Cornerstone will fill out the afternoon of live music, local fare, craft beer, and kids’ activities – great music and fun for a great cause! Attendees will enjoy delicious craft brews courtesy of M.Special Brewery and scrumptious food from local food trucks. A Kids’ Zone with bounce houses, face painting, and more will entertain the little ones – making this event fun for the whole family!

Proceeds from the event will support Habitat for Humanity’s core mission of building and repairing affordable housing for local families in need of a safe, permanent and decent place to call home, with opportunities to support the organization’s ongoing disaster relief efforts in Montecito.

Habitat for Humanity of SSBC is an independent, locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, nondenominational Christian housing organization dedicated to the elimination of poverty housing. Habitat for Humanity International and its affiliates around the world have built and repaired more than 600,000 homes for qualified partner families. Volunteers provide most of the labor, with individuals, churches and corporate donors providing the money and materials to build Habitat houses. Habitat for Humanity of SSBC has participated in cooperative efforts with other non-profit organizations including SEE International, Women’s Economic Ventures, Laguna Senior Cottages, Boys and Girls Club and the Santa Barbara Rescue Mission. They have completed three major construction projects in Santa Barbara on Via Lucero, San Pascual and Canon Perdido Streets and the Sawyer Avenue in Carpinteria is on track to be completed in fall of 2018.
