DESCRIPTION:
Students from the USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance and USC Thornton School of Music will unite to pay tribute to acclaimed choreographer Paul Taylor (1930–2018), who helped shape and define America’s homegrown art of modern dance.

For two times only, USC Kaufman dancers will perform Esplanade, one of the world’s modern dance masterpieces choreographed by the last great modern dance giant. They will be accompanied by a quartet of USC Thornton students playing movements I-III from Johann Sebastian Bach’s Violin Concerto in E major, BWV 1042, and movements II and III from Concerto in D Minor for Two Violins, BMV 1043.

Following the performances, faculty members from both schools will engage in conversations about the creative legacy of Paul Taylor as well as the unique collaboration of conductor, musician, choreographer, and dancer.

Presented by USC Visions and Voices: The Arts and Humanities Initiative. Organized by the USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance and the USC Thornton School of Music.
