On Tuesday, April 30th, join KCRW's Elvis Mitchell, host of The Treatment for an evening of conversation with Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.

Fans of The Treatment know that Elvis Mitchell's conversations with his guests can go in any number of directions. Game of Thrones, a sprawling epic fantasy with themes of crime and punishment, morality, war and sexuality, has plenty to draw from.  Don't miss this opportunity to hear from the creators of one of the most exciting shows on television, right on the heels of the season three premiere.

The conversation will be followed by an audience Q&A.
The evening will take place at New Roads School's Ann and Jerry Moss Theater: a brand new, state of the art theater located on the New Roads campus in Santa Monica.



KCRW’s UpClose event series features KCRW on-air personalities in lively and compelling conversations with some of the leading figures in film, art, politics, literature and pop-culture. Created in 2010, each UpClose event takes place before a live audience.


David Benioff works as an author and screenwriter.  He adapted his first novel, The 25th Hour, into a feature film directed by Spike Lee.  His second novel, City of Thieves,was on the New York Times bestseller list for thirteen weeks and has been translated into thirty-five languages.  His screenplays include The Kite Runner, Brothers, Troy and Stay.  Stories from his critically acclaimed collection When the Nines Roll Over appeared in Best New American Voices and The Best American Nonrequired Reading.  David created and executive produces the Emmy Award-winning Game of Thrones for HBO.  He lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two daughters.


Dan Weiss is the author of Lucky Wander Boy and has worked on numerous film projects such as Halo, Ender's Game and The Game.  Dan created and executive produces the Emmy Award-winning Game of Thrones for HBO. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two sons.


Game of Thrones is an American epic fantasy television series created for HBO by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.  It is an application of A Song of Ice and Fire, George R. Martin's series of fantasy novels, the first of which is titled A Game of Thrones.  Filmed in a Belfast studio and on location elsewhere in Northern Ireland, Malta, Croatia, Iceland, and Morocco, it premiered on HBO in the United States on April 17, 2011.


Elvis Mitchell is an American film critic and host of KCRW's nationally syndicated pop culture and entertainment show, The Treatment, since it's inception in 1996.  He has served as a film critic for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, where he received the 1999 AASFE award for criticism, the LA Weekly, The Detroit Free Press, and The New York Times.  He served for a number of years as a pop culture commentator for Weekend Edition on NPR.  In 2008, Elvis Mitchell: Under the Influence began airing on Turner Classic Movies.  On the program Mitchell interviews actors and directors about their favorite classic films.  In 2011, Elvis became the Curator for the Film Independent program at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and in the Fall of 2012, he accepted the position of Film Scholar at the Department of Film at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Limited parking is available in the New Roads parking lot, located between Olympic Blvd. and Nebraska (enter via westbound Olympic Blvd.); limited street parking available is also available nearby, particularly on Nebraska.  Please make sure to read signs carefully as much of the nearby areas are restricted.

How do I purchase tickets? 
Tickets are available through KCRW.com/upclose.

When do tickets go on-sale? 
Tickets become available on Friday, March 29th at 10am.

How much are tickets and how many can I purchase? 
Tickets are $25-$35 assigned seating. There is an 8 ticket limit per household.

What happens after I order my tickets online? 
When your order is complete you will receive a confirmation number on the tix.com site.  You will also be sent a confirmation email from tix.com within five minutes.  If you choose "e-ticket" as your ticket option, you will be able to print out your ticket(s) immediately.  If you chose "1st Class Mail" - tix.com will send your ticket(s) within two weeks of your purchase.  KCRW will send you important show information via email by Thursday, April 25.

When will I get my tickets? 
You should receive your tickets within 2 weeks of purchase.

What can I do if I am having trouble placing my order online?

How big is the venue? 
This state-of-the-art venue seats 350 people.

Will there be food and drinks available at the venue?
Yes, there will be food and drink available for purchase before the show.  Concession sales are cash only.
Is there parking at the venue?
Limited self parking is available in the New Roads School lot, with additional street parking in the nearby area.  Please make sure to check signs, as most parking nearby is restricted.  KCRW will send out parking instructions in an “important night-of-show information” email a few days before the event.
What is the show’s running time?
The conversation will last approximately 1 hour.
Once I place an order, can I change the credit card number to be billed? 
Unfortunately, once an order is processed, we cannot change the credit card number.
Can I cancel my order? 
No. All sales are final. No refunds or exchanges.
Is the ticket price tax deductible?
